Kids + art

This is and amazing project. The first time I looked at it, it almost broke my heart. There is something about kids and the pictures they take that I absolutely love. Especially these kids, who don't have much else. I think as part of this year's donations, I am going to send some money to the orphanage (of course, I get a picture in return, so it's not quite a donation). Isaac's cousin has a three year old who takes great digital pictures - of the ceiling, everyone's feet, people lying on the ground, etc. I want to get my hands on some of them and make them into a great series (another art-related obsession of mine). I'm thinking that when we have kids eventually, I'll use their photos to decorate their bedroom walls (in addition to their regular art of course). Here's another site with a post similar to this one (except she has real examples of what I am talking about, since she has kids).

The other day during ceramics class (hey back tack pal, I forgot to mention that I take ceramics and am darn good at throwing bowls, but that's about it), I decided that I want to be an art teacher. I would love to teach kids about doing work in series, give them cameras and see what they come back with, teach them to knit and felt, expose them to artists and art techniques they might never have seen otherwise. Of course, that's not going to happen since I don't have any sort of background in art or teaching, but who knows, maybe it will.

Oh and back tack pal, if you made it this far in the post, I also really like green in addition to brown (in case you couldn't tell from the colors of my blog template). Olivedrab and yellowgreen more than forestgreen and darkgreen. (Bigger samples of the colors here).

Keep the ideas coming!! I love the fact that you are into ceramics. I almost signed up for a tea pot workshop a few weeks ago.

Greens and browns and pink accents and stripes. Yum! You and I are right on track when it comes to colors!
