mail order tomorrow! + a knitting update

Amy of Angry Chicken is starting a fun mail club. (mentioned here and here also.) Each bi-monthly mailing will consist of a fun crafty project and will contain all sorts of fun paper goods. Amy makes some wonderful things, including mini quilts (used as art), full size quilts and paintings, all of which you can see on her kingpod website.

The mailorder sign ups will be available tomorrow morning at 8am PST (which is 11 am EST for those of you in the east like me). I have something for work scheduled at that time, but I am really hoping that somehow I'll be able to sign up. Judging by the number of comments left on the 2 posts given above, it might be tight!!!

And now for the knitting content:

I have finished yet another swatch for the sitcom chic cardigan that I will be making for the knitting olympics. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that I get the proper gauge, because I still need to wash the current one and I don't know if there will be time to make another before the opening ceremonies tomorrow night.

Before I started swatching for the olympics, I was working on this crepe paper crown from Alterknits (which by the way is a really great book). Here's the progress I had made as of Monday.

Last night I started the points and now only have 3 to finish. I should mention that I am not making the crown merely because I want a crown to wear (which I do, but that's beside the point). I thought it would be a good project to test out knitting with crepe paper in hopes of using it for the ceramics pieces I mentioned yesterday. I am still not sure about it, but I know that the crepe paper will at least burn off in the kiln. I think I am going to just have to knit a piece and test it out. The crown may or may not be finished until after the olympics.

Yikes, I have to knit a sweater in 16 days!!! What was I thinking?!?!?!
